Questions to ask your dentist before starting the Invisalign process

clear braces

Are you thinking about straightening your teeth with Invisalign? The beautiful, discreet, straight smile that Invisalign delivers is incomparable. These clear braces are nearly invisible, and can restore your smile in a manner of a few months. Let’s review some essential questions to ask your dentist before you start your Invisalign treatment.

1. What can I expect from my Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign braces work similarly to conventional, metal braces, in that they gradually move your teeth into a straight position. Unlike conventional braces, which use bulky metal brackets, the Invisalign treatment plan relies on clear, plastic aligners. Throughout the course of your treatment, your dentist will create a series of custom aligners that will gently straighten out your teeth.

Treatment plans are customizable and designed for a comfortable, seamless fit using 3D scanning with our iTerro Element Scanner.

2. How long will it take to straighten my teeth?

This is the question a lot of patients have before starting Invisalign. Your Invisalign aligners will start straightening your teeth as soon as they are fitted to your smile. By making sure that you wear your aligners as recommended, you can expect to start seeing results in as few as a few months.  Since individual results vary, you should talk to your dentist about how long it will take for your specific treatment plan to take its course. Invisalign treatment for an average adult with moderate crowding takes about twelve to eighteen months.

Some tooth movements are more difficult and take longer than others. These are also less predictable, so be flexible with the exact timetable that is set at the beginning of your treatment. Our goal is always to give you the smile of your dreams. Depending on the severity of misalignment, this could take less or more time, but in a general sense it is a much quicker process than traditional braces.

3. Do I have to wear my Invisalign aligners all day?

The more frequently you wear your Invisalign aligner, the quicker you can expect to see results. Typically, your dentist will recommend that you wear your aligners at least 20-22 hours every day. Your aligners can, however, be gently removed for eating, brushing your teeth, and performing other activities.

By not wearing your tray for the daily minimum, it may take longer for your teeth to move. This will delay when you can wear your next tray, although it will not necessarily change the number of aligners that you need.

4. How much will this cost?

The overall cost of your Invisalign treatment will be directly related to the complexity of your treatment. During your initial consultation, we will talk about your potential cost as well as discuss your options. We are happy to work with dental insurance if you have it, and we can discuss payment options to work with you to make sure your treatment fits easily into your budget.

The cost of Invisalign starts at $3,900 and can reach $5,300, depending upon the complexity of your case. At Shemen Dental Group LLP, we offer three Invisalign® packages, each of which includes final retainers, teeth whitening, and Propel Orthodontics at no additional cost to you. Combining Propel and the discreet Invisalign system, patients can achieve a more symmetrical and attractive smile in half the time.

Though some dental practices charge less for Invisalign® treatment, their policies often include hidden costs. We value transparency and strive to keep our patients fully informed of their options from the start. As a result, our patients know exactly what to expect during treatment.
