During Dr. Speirs' third year of dental school she had a baby, which led to her helping draft and implement a family-leave policy at the University of Utah School of Dentistry. She more recently has used her passion for organized dentistry, and gone on to become a member of the ADA (American Dental Association) and was a recipient of the International College of Dentist's Humanitarian Award for ""exemplifying and demonstrating passion for altruistic humanitarian service as a dental student"" in 2021. She has always believed that excellent dental care should be available to everyone, which has helped her in saying ""Yes"" to the many God-given experiences and people that have been placed in her path, including serving in the mission field from 2013-2015 where she learned Spanish while serving with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In her personal time, Dr. Speirs is a dedicated wife to her loving husband, Colby, and a wonderful mother to their baby girl, Rowan. Together, they're a family of faith, and are dedicated members of their church. Over the years she's enjoyed playing violin, having played in the Symphony Orchestra at BYU, and has largely enjoyed doing gymnastics at Amarillo College, after which, she was able to coach a team in Salt Lake as an undergrad student. Her down time now mainly includes running, reading, and hiking, preferably at her favorite spot, Grand Teton National Park.
