Rebuilding Your Smile

and Jawbone with Dental Implants

If you are missing one or more of your teeth, dental implants provide an opportunity to restore your smile. Implants replace the entire tooth, from root to crown and restore lost jawbone strength. Drs. Eddy Sauer and Nathaniel Avirett are committed to providing the most cutting-edge dental treatments available. At our state-of-the-art facility in Amarillo, TX, our doctors place and restore dental implants on-site to rebuild and strengthen your smile.

Advantages of Dental Implants

Dental implants both restore and rejuvenate jawbone health, creating a long-lasting and healthy replacement for a missing tooth or teeth. With proper care, implants can last a lifetime and, with a 98 percent success rate, are an excellent choice for replacing your teeth.

Our doctors are dedicated to ensuring that your smile looks as natural as it feels.

Unlike other dental prosthetics, dental implants are self-sufficient. Since they are anchored into the jaw, they don’t require adhesives or structural support from nearby, healthy teeth. With traditional replacements for missing teeth, the surrounding teeth must be altered to support the prosthetic. Dental implants stay in place on their own, eliminating the risk of slippage during meals or conversation. Aesthetically, implants closely mimic your natural teeth so that they are virtually indistinguishable from the rest of your smile.

What to Expect During Your Visits

Every dental implant procedure is tailored to the individual. Our doctors can discuss your options with you and design a treatment plan best suited to your needs. We use CEREC technology to plan surgery and create the final restorations, expediting treatment and ensuring predictable, beneficial results.

1

Titanium Post

A small titanium post is secured into the bone in place of the tooth root.
2

osseointegration

As the jawbone heals, the titanium and jawbone grow together to create a long-lasting and natural connection in a process called osseointegration.
3

Healing

The healing process for dental implants typically takes 8 to 12 weeks.
4

Post Healing

Once healed, a small metal abutment is placed on top of the implant to act as a bridge between the titanium post and the restoration.
5

Impression

Our doctors will make an impression of your teeth.
6

Custom Crown

From this impression, we can create a custom crown at our office on the same day of your visit.
7

Matching Color

Your dentist will match the color and translucency of your new crown to your existing smile.

FAQs

What is the timeline for dental implants?

Your timeline will depend upon a variety of factors, including preparatory procedures performed and the type of restoration you choose.

How do I maintain my dental implants?

Your new dental implants will require the same amount of care as your natural teeth. We recommend twice-daily brushing, regular flossing, rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash, and regular dental check-ups. Patients should be committed to keeping up with a regular dental hygiene regimen in order to ensure long-lasting results.

Are dental implants right for me?

Dental implants are available for anyone with a healthy jawbone and gums. When we lose teeth, our jawbones often begin to lose tissue, as well. Consequently, there may not be enough bone to support implants, which can undermine your results. However, if you have lost bone tissue in your jaw, you can boost your candidacy with a bone grafting procedure and potentially improve your chances for a successful implant.

How long does recovery take?

You can return to work within a few days. Full recovery from the procedure will require four to six months, during which time osseointegration will occur. During this biological process, your dental implants will fuse with the jawbone and form a stable, durable foundation for your restoration.
