Conceal Cosmetic Issues

with porcelain Veneers

Shemen Dental Group in Amarillo, TX, provides porcelain veneers for patients who want to address a variety of cosmetic concerns, such as chips and cracks, in one comprehensive treatment. Porcelain veneers are prosthetic tooth surfaces created using highly durable, lifelike porcelain that covers imperfections. Our office uses CEREC® technology to create your veneers, meaning that you can achieve an enhanced smile in a single office visit. Porcelain veneers are a highly aesthetic and durable form of cosmetic treatment, and patients who practice good oral hygiene can enjoy the benefits of veneers for years to come.

Porcelain Veneers Treatment

During your initial consultation, you will discuss your desired outcomes with one of our doctors and decide if porcelain veneers are the best treatment for you. We will work closely with you to develop mockups that preview your post-treatment smile. If you are pleased and ready to move forward with the treatment, we will carefully remove the minimum amount of enamel required to make room for your veneers. We will then create impressions to use in our CEREC machine, which will fabricate your veneers from a single block of porcelain. Thanks to this in-office technology, you can experience the benefits of porcelain veneers after a single office visit. Once your new restoration is ready, we will place the veneers on the front surfaces of your teeth using a bonding agent. The veneers are created to closely match the color and texture of your surrounding teeth and give you a natural-looking smile.

Am I a

Candidate?

If you have small cracks or chips in your teeth, or small teeth that do not match your surrounding teeth, porcelain veneers can help enhance your dental aesthetics and complement your facial features. Veneers may also be a good option if you have intrinsic stains that are resistant to whitening treatments.

Veneers are considered a cosmetic treatment, and will not address major orthodontic issues, decay, or tooth loss. Your teeth must be strong enough to support the veneers, and our office will conduct an oral health evaluation prior to any dental procedure. If you have preexisting oral health issues, we will need to address them prior to beginning treatment for veneers.

The Benefits of Veneers

In addition to their lifelike and highly durable quality, porcelain veneers offer a wide range of benefits for those who choose to undergo the treatment. Veneers are made with advanced materials that closely resemble the translucency and color of your natural teeth. Patients who are able to achieve their ideal smile are more likely to have positive self-esteem. A comparative study performed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) found that patients who received porcelain veneers had a significant increase in their sense of confidence and quality of life.

Porcelain veneers are made of durable, stain-resistant porcelain. Porcelain is not porous and does not absorb stains.
2

Color Matching

Many patients choose to undergo teeth whitening beforehand so that the veneers can be matched to the brilliant new shade of surrounding teeth.
3

Long Term

With proper maintenance, veneers can have a lifespan of about 10 years.
